After five films presented at Cannes Film Festival, Paolo Sorrentino came this year with a new approach. The film Youth seems to be one of the favourites in the Cannes competition. And it has all the necessary ingredients: it has the story, the eternal subject like age, ageing and life and it has magnificent actors to interpret: Harvey Keitel, Michael Caine and Jane Fonda, Rachel Weisz.
The story is about the relationship between two longtime friends arrived at the age of 80, one a composer and orchestra director, the other a movie director. They gather in the Southern mountains of France on a spa resort and they bring out ideas about life, age, love, life in general in a sort of humoristic manner. Bringing forth the idea of relationships from the past and to the futur, Youth is essential to people's mind as long as it feeds them. And it does in sort of nostlagic way.
The film promisses to conquer more than just the press so we need to see that the Jury has the same opinion.
