The Villa Les Camélias is joining forces for the 7th consecutive year with the City of Cap d'Ail and the Parisian bookshop "Mots en Marge" to organize the event "Les authors au jardin". This event is scheduled in the afternoon, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
THE PLACE
Since the birth of the district of La Turbie-sur-Mer then of the city of Cap d'Ail at the beginning of the last century, the "international gentry" has taken up residence there in sumptuous Belle Epoque buildings, followed by many personalities from the world of Arts and Letters. Among the long list are: Guillaume Apollinaire, Colette, Sacha Guitry, Greta Garbo, Winston Churchill... This is how in 1942 André Malraux settled in the "Villa Les Camélias", which today has become a private museum.
THE GUESTS
From children's literature to the latest best-selling novels, through beautiful local discoveries highlighting the heritage of the Alpes Maritimes, around twenty authors are invited for an afternoon and an evening in a friendly atmosphere! Among the guests of this day, we find in particular Véronique Ovaldé, godmother of the 2023 edition, the guest of honor Javier Cercas, as well as Bernard Minier.
VÉRONIQUE OVALDE
Véronique Ovaldé is a novelist who has been acclaimed by readers since the publication of her first books. His talent has been crowned by numerous prizes, including the France Culture-Télérama prize (And my transparent heart). Her novel Ce que je sais de Vera Candida received the Renaudot Prize for High School Students, the France Television Prize and the Grand Prize for Readers PRESENTATION ELLE.
JAVIER CERCAS
Javier Cercas is one of the most renowned Spanish authors in his country and internationally. Lecturer at the University of Girona where he teaches literature, he writes essays as well as chronicles and collections of texts, and of course great novels in which he deals with subjects concerning Spanish society.
BERNARD MINIER
Bernard Minier is from Béziers and grew up in the Pyrenees. Today he is one of the undisputed masters of French crime fiction, he is translated into many languages. All his books are best-sellers, from his first thriller Glacé to the latest, which has just been published, Un œil dans la nuit.
