A free ocean festival alongside the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference

From June 9 to 13, 2025 | Théâtre de Verdure. On the occasion of the United Nations Conference, the City of Nice, in collaboration with Nautilus and UNESCO, is offering the World Oceans Week festival (WOW 2025), a five-day multidisciplinary festival designed to engage the public and inspire global action to protect the oceans.

Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice, President of the Nice Côte d'Azur Metropolitan Area, and Deputy President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region:

"From June 9 to 13, the Nautilus Village will be located in the heart of our city, between the Théâtre de Verdure and the Jacques Cotta square, for five days of discussions, concerts, screenings, and meetings focused on the ocean and maritime cultures. Its objective: to inform, question, and encourage reflection on the major issues related to the ocean.

Free and open to all, this vibrant and engaging space is one of the highlights of The Year of the Sea - Nice 2025. With its convivial dining area, round tables, live broadcasts of United Nations conferences, concerts, and screenings, it complements the already diverse and rich offering of all the events organized in our region as part of the United Nations Ocean Conference.

This space for communication and awareness fully embodies our desire to make Nice a city that plays a leading role in protecting the seas and oceans.

The WOW 2025 Festival, organized in partnership with the Schmidt Ocean Institute and a global coalition of ocean partners, offers an immersive, multidisciplinary, and public program during the United Nations Ocean Conference.

Every evening, the Théâtre de Verdure will host Soirées Nautilus Village, a musical event combining live concerts, audiovisual installations, and immersive ocean experiences in a friendly atmosphere. At the same time, the Nautilus Village will serve as a civic and educational center, with interactive exhibitions, scientific lectures, and workshops designed to raise awareness of ocean issues among young and old. Finally, the public space around the village will be enlivened by environmental art installations, including "The Reef Star" exhibition by The ReefLine, a reef sculpture and hybrid marine habitat designed specifically for the City of Nice and the UN Ocean Conference by artists Carlos Betancourt and Albert Latorre.
