"Design Thinking" is a method that correlates your state of mind with a positive vibe. This methodis outlined by Bernard Roth, a professor of engineering at Stanford University, and shows the power of words.
You should stop saying certain words ...
In fact, you should replace some words with others. Like "but" with "and" or "I have to" with "I want to". This way, you can switch into your mind from a negative or conflicting state into a positive one. The road to success!
In his book, "The Achievement Habit", Bernard Roth writes about the power of words and the necessity to switch from old habits to new ones starting right fromour mouth and directing it straight to brain and mind. He talks about some linguistic tweaks that we can use in order to achieve our goals.
"I want to go to the movies but I have work to do," should be replaced by the phrase "I want to go to the movies and I have work to do." Or "I want to go to work today," instead of "I have to go to work today" . Seems quite difficult this one, right?
Bernard Roth explains that "This exercise is very effective in getting people to realise that what they do in their lives - even the things they find unpleasant - are in fact what they have chosen."
We should all try at all levels!
