The festive Christmas time is marked in Austria with the traditional Vienna State Ballet. And, as the creative director of Vivienne Westwood is Andreas Kronthaler, Austria native, the idea came as a perfect match for the fashion designer to create the costumes for the Ballet.
"I feel honored that we were asked to design the costumes for the New Year's Concert ballet, as it holds such tradition for me. I grew up watching [it] every year, and it's become part of my Christmas memories."
The designs from Vivienne Weswood include a yellow gown with inspiration from the designer's spring 2005 collection, a burgundy gown and even Westwood's tartan mini kilts and bustiers, worn by dancers performing the polka.
All the creations were inspired from the Vivienne Westwood more romantic side, letting aside the punk touch of the designer.
