A study proved it: sun baths prove to be more efficient for the persons attained by sclerosis in plates than vitamin D, to fight tiredness and depression.
A unappropriate sun exposure and a deficit in vitamin D can make augment the risk of contracting a sclerosis in plates. Among the frequent symptoms of sclerosis in plates, it is possible to name depression, anxiety, tiredness and disturbances of perception. Nevertheless, these symptoms cannot be treated by means of tablets of vitamin D. An Australian study established that it is exposure to the sun, and not vitamin D, with a positive effect on this affection. Indeed, a high rate of vitamin D in the blood constitutes only a simple indicator which the person passed enough time in the sun.
198 patients attained by sclerosis in plates participated in study. The scientists studied them, on average, during 2,3 years. They measured the rate of vitamin D of the participants every six months, and analysed the expanse of their state of depression, of anxiety and of tiredness. The participants also had to answer how much time they passed in the sun. It so appeared that those who went out in the sun more were less tired and less depressed. On the other hand, the influence exercised by the rate of vitamin D could not be established.
« The exposure to the sun has a relaxant and toning effect. In this case, such effect does not think it is linked to the rate of vitamin D, which, as part of other many studies, is at the origin of positive development. A moderate exposure to the sun can, all over itself, have an advantageous effect as health, as well as it appeared of this study», pointed out Ad Brand, spokesperson of Sunlight Research Forum (SRF).
