The top 2013 fashion films

More and more the fashion industry merges with the cinema industry. The urge of touching the audience in another way got to a more artistic level sometimes becoming rival to Hollywood productions.

2013 has been a year of great accomplishment in this regard. We have great fashion names that put their creativity into creating stories in a cinematic manner.

"Walking Stories," an eight-part Web series for Salvatore Ferragamo is one of these 2013 fashion films that touched the audience. Luca Guadagnino, the creative mind behind it, knows perfectly how to convey a message through motion and emotion. He did not likes the idea of putting together some images but to create a story.

"A brand is like a house. When you enter into a house, if you are open to listening, you will understand immediately what the soul of the owner of that house is. So for me, the most important thing is, who is the person who is inviting you into his house? And only then, when you really understand the DNA, the heritage, the feeling, the sense of the house and the brand, can you start approaching your own ideas on how to do it,", Luca Guadagnino said.

Another great example is that of Louis Vuitton with "L'invitation au voyage", a 60-second film featuring David Bowie and model Arizona Muse. It was revealed to the French audience on Nov. 20 and afterwards to entire world. The brand wanted to concentrate into a short film the essence of the brand and to attract the public with every scene. The film director, Romain Gavras wanted to bring the new technology and implement it to the movie in such a way that the audience is glued to it.

Another great fashion film is that made by Bruno Aveillan for Cartier. The film is called "The Cartier Odyssey," a three-and-a-half-minute film that relates about a wonderful journey from nowadays Paris to some fabulous digitally-made realms of Russia, China and India. We can not say the same thing about the film for Guerlain, "The Legend of Shalimar," which received a lot of critics as having too many repeated scenes.  Although Bruno Aveillan was the same mind behind it, the film did not receive the same reactions.

In all, 2013 has been a great year for the fashion films and, I think, a fantastic start for a fabulous 2 in 1 industry.

Dear Andra, I'm usually a big fan of you, but sorry, I'm not agree at all with your comments regarding The amazing guerlain "La légende de Shalimar" which is for me one of the most beautiful perfume ad ever. Please, open your eyes ! The film is a piece of art, powerful and really emotional. It is acclaimed all over the world and did recieved many awards. The only few critics came from a group of bloggers who hate fashion and luxury, who tried to attack LVMH for political reasons though this film.
