On Thursday 26 November, the Stars' n' Bars is offering an "all you can eat" buffet, which will feature all the Thanksgiving specialties, such as turkey, vegetables, sweetcorn and apple tart.
Every year, on the fourth Thursday of November, Thanksgiving is celebrated in the United States. This is an important traditional date of the calendar, when the whole family gathers for traditional dishes such as stuffed turkey, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie and apple tart.
Thanksgiving reminds of the arrival in New England of a hundred or so Pilgrims who had fled British persecution in 1620.
As the first winter was hard and it was a lack of food, the pilgrims had to get used to the new climate and land. So, two Iroquois Indians from the Patuxet tribe guided them, helped them and learned them how to hunt, fish, recognize edible plants and grow sweetcorn.
In 1621, the Governor of the Pilgrims, William Bradford, proclaimed a day of thanksgiving for both the Pilgrims and the Indians, who brought turkeys to roast.
