It is the moment of 160th years of celebrating the Louis Vuitton house. And the celebration has to be done accordingly. So, Delphine Arnault, Executive Vice President of Louis Vuitton and the Artistic Director of Women's Collections, Nicolas Ghesquiere thought of something extraordinary.
They gathered around six of the best fashion designers in the world to create a special anniversary collection and commemorate the LV Monogram. Karl Lagerfeld, Christian Louboutin, Rei Kawakubo, the industrial designer Marc Newson, foto and film director Cindy Sherman.
The collection will include LV bags, luggage, trunks, of course with the monogram signature: a punching bag by Karl, a man`s bag by Marc, or trunks by Marc and Cindy.
"When we talked with Nicolas Ghesquiere about the extraordinary talents we would like to approach we simply went to those who are among the best in their fields. We were interested in people who work with their minds and their hands. I thought it was so interesting - and fun! - to have all of these different points of view on the Monogram. It is inspiring to see how they envision things, to see their perspectives. This is a group of geniuses ... "We have assembled an amazing group of talents - geniuses, I would say. Each one is among the best in his or her field. The monogram is at the centre of our house, so we celebrate it every day. But we thought this project was really special because the personalities we chose are fascinating and diverse." declared Arnault cited by WWD.
