The 67th edition of Keukenhof is inaugurated in the presence of the Girl with the Pearl. The theme in 2016 is "The Golden Age", a period when the world was discovered and trade flourished.
The most beautiful spring garden in the world is open from Thursday March 24 to Monday, May 16th included. Keukenhof is already in bloom.
There is this season a close link between the Golden Age and Keukenhof. The highlight of the annual theme is the mosaic of flower bulbs with an area of 250 m2 and made from one hundred thousand tulips, grape hyacinths and crocus. The leasehold exhibitions you discover combinations between tens of thousands of flowers and paintings of the 17th century. A Century-inspired garden Golden and a Delft Blue garden was also created this year on the theme of the Golden Age.
Many tourists from around the world come to the Netherlands to discover exceptional national emblems like Rembrandt, Dutch cheese, windmills and tulips. Keukenhof is hugely important for tourism in the Netherlands. The park indeed every year has 800,000 visitors from over 100 countries. About 75% of them come from abroad.
In his welcome speech, Bart Siemerink, director of Keukenhof, also mentioned other news in the park as the second cut tulip exhibition, natural garden and Flowers & Fashion exhibition in the orchids Pavilion.
Keukenhof expects this year 800,000 visitors from 100 countries. The park is open to the public from Thursday 24 March to Monday, May 16, 2016 inclusive.
