The 17th edition of the Monte-Carlo Film Festival de la Comédie, the prestigious cinematographic event dedicated to comedy, conceived and directed by Ezio Greggio, ends successfully, respecting all barrier gestures. This Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Salle Prince Pierre of the Grimaldi Forum the gala will take place with the award ceremony.
The jury, chaired by the double Oscar winner Nick Vallelonga and composed of the sparkling Sabrina Impacciatore, the Dutch actress Lotte Verbeek and the talented Spanish actress Maggie Civantos, decided on the Palmares. The awards for best film, best director, the audience award and a special mention for the whole cast went to the German "Nightlife" of Simon Verhoeven, the film which tells the story of the bartender Milo who meets the woman of his dreams, Sunny, in a fateful moment and decides to set up a date. Everything seems to be going well, but when Milo's chaotic friend Renzo shows up, the romantic evening turns into a succession of misunderstandings against the backdrop of Berlin's nightlife.
Best actress Candelà Pena in the film "La Boda de Rosa" (The Marriage of Rosa) directed by Icìar Bollain, for her extraordinary interpretation of a woman at the age of 45 who realizes that she has always lived her life in relation to others. So she decides to leave everything behind and realize the dream of opening her own business. The prize for best actor goes to the Italian Nando Paone for "Il ladro di Cardellini" by Carlo Luglio, who plays the role of an old ranger who spends his days between alcohol and video poker, in the countryside of the Campania region in southern Italy. To pay off his debts, he organizes a scam with 200 purebred white goldfinches, replacing them with normal goldfinches. But his plan will not go as planned. It is a French film that won the first Short Comedy Award in the short films category. This is Cash Stash by Enya Baroux and Martin Darondeau.
The Special Prizes awarded to the gala evening of the Grimaldi Forum directed by Ezio Greggio: the Monte-Carlo Film Festival Award to Maggie Civantos, Sabrina Impacciatore and Andrea Morricone; to French filmmaker Patrice Leconte the Career Award; the actor of the future under 30 award to Italian actor Alessio Lapice; the King of Comedy award to the famous Italian actor Nino Frassica and the Legend Award to the president of the jury Nick Vallelonga.
The Monte-Carlo Film Festival de la Comédie takes place at the Grimaldi Forum from October 5 to 10, 2020, organized under the High Patronage of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco and the Embassy of Italy, in collaboration with EFG Bank (Monaco ).
