Modernist codes, minimalism - the trends from Calvin Klein fashion show
Under the creative mind of Francisco Costa, the Spring 2014 Calvin Klein runway came with a different air. From modernist codes, minimalism and attention to every detail, the collection for Spring 2014 is subtle and a bit unusual for the designers's habits.
Francisco Costa explained that he was influenced for this collection by Pablo Picasso, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Gordon Matta-Clark. So, the architectural, squared-lines and shapes are very clearly drawn through the work of these artists.
"Maybe it's slightly out of the box for us," Costa said, cited by WWD. "I think we took a chance." Which was worth it.
The Calvin Klein fashion collection
From the collection, we can notice the mix between luxury and urban style using contrasting colours and fabrics. Costa worked on the transparancy to substantial effect also. He mixed pieces of fabrics like snakeskin stripes for the coat to outline the luxury elements in the collection.
Overall, the Calvin Klein Spring 2014 collection is a burts of fresh modernist air.
