The 71st edition of Monaco Red Cross with John Legend

Under the presidency of Prince Albert II, the 71st Gala of the Monegasque Red Cross takes place on Friday, July 26th, 2019, in the prestigious setting of the Salle des Etoiles at Sporting Monte-Carlo.For the organization founded in 1948 by Prince Louis II, this evening highlights his daily actions to the most vulnerable people, tirelessly for seventy-one years. It pays tribute to the donors of the Monegasque Red Cross, whose generosity helps to prevent and alleviate the suffering of those who need it.Supported and guided by the deep convictions of HSH Prince Albert II, its President, the Monegasque Red Cross has continued to expand its action against human tragedies, social tragedies that today assail men, women and children , worldwide. 

Small in size, big in action

Although working in an area of ​​only 2km², the Monegasque Red Cross, with more than 580 volunteer members and 58 employees, acts in five areas of activity: health, first aid, social assistance, youth and the international. In total, more than 2 million euros have been spent on local action in 2018. As a public authority, it provides support and comfort to those in need and prepares, trains and sensitizes the population to first aid. In armed conflicts such as natural and man-made disasters, its network of more than 13 million volunteers helps those in need. In 2018, the Monegasque Red Cross will have answered dozens of calls through its International Movement, handing more than € 474,000 to its partners in the field. She also participated in the construction of a multipurpose training center in Burkina Faso inaugurated in January 2018 by the Princely Couple, or allowed the surgical reception of dozens of children through the "Monaco Collective Humanitarian", in which she participates actively . Nearly € 400,000 was spent on developing international programs in 2018.This year the Monegasque Red Cross is particularly proud to welcome John Legend, one of the most talented and versatile artists of our time.

The critically acclaimed singer-songwriter has won an Emmy Award, 10 Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe, a Tony Award and an Academy Award, and has had many platinum records to his credit. Shortly after his first success with Lauryn Hill for the hit "Everything is Everything" (1999) in which he is at the piano, the singer and songwriter participated in recordings of the famous Jay-Z and Janet Jackson.The evening is presented by Michel Drucker and Karin Viard.For this 71st Gala of the Monegasque Red Cross, the teams of Monte-Carlo Society of the Sea Baths imagined and realized a decor marrying the movement of the sea. From their arrival at the Sporting, the guests will be guided by waves of thousands flowers in the Hall of Stars. The color "living coral" of the decoration they will discover then putting, meanwhile, the focus on the preservation of the seabed.

The rhythms of Mama Dear and Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio as well as the rock of Prime Circle, one of the best South African bands, will accompany the guests of their musical creations.Tradition requires, the work of art, specially created on the theme of the Red Cross, and offered by Marcello Lo Giudice, internationally renowned artist, will be exhibited in the lobby of Sporting Monte Carlo.
