The 65th Edition of Bal de la Rose in Monaco

How not to mention Karl Lagerfeld on the occasion of the Ball of the Rose, he who has always been so faithful to this event! Not an edition of the Rose Ball without Karl, his presence, his support, often his artistic direction and the illustrations drawn with his own hand for the invitations.

We must remember his first intervention to celebrate the Jubilee of Prince Rainier in 1999, as well as many editions including in 2013, for the Ball of the Rose of the Rocher, celebrating 150 years of the SBM and the next five editions.

But, the show must go on.

S.A.R. The Princess of Hanover, President of the Princess Grace Foundation, and her friend Karl Lagerfeld have chosen together the theme of the 2019 Rose Ball: Bal de la Rose Riviera. Under the sign of the dolce vita and swaying rhythms of the 50s, we are taken to another era.

Thus, on the occasion of this journey in time, the illustrator and graphic designer Mr. Z. has imposed itself. It illuminates with warm light and unpublished landscapes of the Principality, develops a universe where will come to shine all the enthusiasm, all the elegance, all the sweetness of the life of the Riviera and the international fame of Monaco.

Upon arrival for the photocall, the Riviera spirit invites to the sea, to be caught by the Dolce Vita to plunge into the heart of the myth as projected in one of the famous scenes of The Hand to Collar. The beach of Monte Carlo Beach and the Hotel de Paris Monte-Carlo appear as icons of an eternal Riviera. The revisited legend unfolds its charm.

The scenery

For this exceptional evening, the Salle des Etoiles proves that the Riviera spirit is always combined with the present. The famous catwalk leading to the diving board of the swimming pool of the Monte-Carlo Beach embraces it completely and welcomes thirty dancers and six dancers for a unique show of its kind, a real magazine for this sixty-fifth edition.

The dance show on the famous footbridge of the Monte-Carlo Beach offers the ideal space to enjoy the musical universe of the Riviera, songs that make you dream and always sing because they wear the colors of the Côte d'Azur. Roberto Colletta plays the songs of legendary crooners, Les Bouches Rouges revisit the great standards of the roaring twenties at yéyé and Alessandro Ristori will give an Italian rock accent with his musicians the Portofinos.

An extraordinary evening that evokes a unique, refined and legendary art of living that is found tonight in Monaco. The Riviera never stops singing, making people dream, making every moment of it beautiful.
