The 5th Edition of the OVNi Festival in Nice

From November 22 to December 1, 2019, video art is invited all over the city of Nice for the 5th OVNi edition of Objectif Video Nice. Since 2015, this unique festival on the Côte d'Azur celebrates the image in motion thanks to a collaborative project between museums, places of culture and heritage,private apartments, nice hotels and contemporary art galleries.

Under the creative eye of agnès b., Godmother of the Festival OVNi 2019, there are more than 20 different spaces spread around the city, united around the same commitment: the promotion of the video art and the moving image. A free event to delight fans of the genre but also to satisfy the curiosity of the Azureens who will be able to enter the intimacy of hotel rooms but also places usually closed to the public.

A trip to "The Odyssey of Cinema"? A video vision on Korean landscapes? A story of love found in the digital remains of an old smartphone? A walk in the heart of waves between the contemplation of aquatic lines and sound experience? So many experiences to discover during 10 days articulated around 3 artistic courses.

During 10 days, the festival OVNi proposes a stroll in about twenty museums, places of culture and design, private apartments and unusual places of Nice. An opportunity for festival-goers to discover or rediscover the riches of Nice's heritage and the Côte d'Azur, by following avideo art and contemporary art courses.

November 29 to December 1, 2019

Four hotels in Nice join forces in the name of art and open their den to the public. For a weekend, they invite French and international contemporary cultural structures to invest their rooms and common areas to turn them into a video creation. In 2019, OVNi arrives on the Promenade des Anglais thanks to the West End Hotel, the first erected there in 1842, joining for the first year the Festival alongside the HotelSplendid, the Malmaison Hotel and the Villa Rivoli. All 4 gathered on 500m distance, their proximity will allow visitors to stroll free from one establishment to another, and to enter the intimacy of the rooms to discover the exhibitions imagined by artists Nice, French and Koreans.

OVNi Galleries - Camera Camera Salonfrom November 30 to December 1, 2019

For the 3rd consecutive year, at the OVNi Festival, the Windsor Hotel is hosting the show Camera Camera. Engaged since 1989 in support of contemporary creation, the establishment artists' chambers and initiator of the festival organizes in its rooms and its garden, inpassing through its lobby, bar and restaurant, a walk through the hotel where galleries appropriate spaces in two possible formats.In total, more than 20 French and international galleries meet in Nice in the artist's rooms. The public will walk between the "dark rooms" where the immersive video installation plunges the visitors into a black box and the "clear rooms" transform themselves into a setting favorable to the dialogues between video art and plastic art, while based on the scenography of the piece. At the end of the weekend, two prizes awarded by a jury chaired by Jennifer Flay (Artistic Director of Fiac), will reward the best video and the best project in the room.
