The world-renowned team at Chino Latino, is marking London Fashion Week (14-18 September) with a dress made from nori, the seaweed paper that is a staple in sushi, created by an up-and-coming London designer.
George Nemsadze, a graduate of Central Saint Martin's College of Art and Design, used fifty sheets of vivid green pressed seaweed and silk organza in his shift dress creation, incorporating geometric patterning and sheer panelling.
Nemsadze favours symmetrical bold patterning in his designs and honed his skills during a student placement at Alexander McQueen before working at TATA-NAKA and David Koma, who will both be exhibiting their collections at September's London Fashion Week.
"The beautiful sheen and colour of the nori is very Spring/Summer 2013. We saw earth and jewel tones in Spring/Summer 2012 collections which rolled on through autumn and winter and into Spring/Summer 2013 in several collections," says George Nemsadze.
"Working with the nori, which is traditionally used in sushi, lent itself to a bold, graphical print as the texture of the seaweed paper permitted clean cuts," he continues.
Albert van der Westhuizen, Chino Latino Brand Manager for Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts, comments, "Fashion week in London is a time to celebrate all that is beautiful, from designer creations and street fashion to city architecture and well-executed cuisine. We wanted to mark Fashion Week by commissioning a London designer to create a fusion piece where food meets fashion."
The dress will be on display in the lobby of Chino Latino, found within Park Plaza Riverbank, throughout London Fashion Week.
What's more, bookings made for lunch or dinner throughout London Fashion Week will receive a 25% discount from their total food bill, just by quoting LFW 12 when pre-booking a table for a minimum of two diners. To book call the restaurant directly on 020 7769 2500.
