Scents ! All over ! Senses ! Everywhere ! We entered a world apart! No more habitual things, this world from the International Museum Of Grasse is depicted from a world of refinement and dreamy moods! Perfume is the main word but beyond it lays a world that captures all of your senses.

So we went back, 4000 years ago when the art of perfumery began, in Egypt. Kyphi is the most ancient perfume in the world, a perfumed used in fumigation which appeared from 3000 BC. It was used as a gift to gods but also it had therapeutic uses.

In the South of France, the history of perfume began in the 14th century and Grasse was the starting point. In time, it became one of the most prestigious places to visit in terms of fragrance.

Between the jasmine fields around Grasse and the notoriety of the painter Fragonard (1732 - 1806), child of the city, it was enough to make this Mediterranean town a land of arts and senses. By dint of spraying its scent on the neck of the women around the world, #Grasse has become the capital of #perfumery. 233 years of traditional and delicate #craftsmanship bring the city to the summit of #refinement and #elegance. In the land of #flowers, the scent is the queen. And in #Provence, the choice is larger: between the heady scents of lavender, roses, jasmine flowers, violets, tuberose and the delicate aromas of mimosa form the top notes of these olfactory creations, composed every day in the Fragonard factories. An essential step to feel Provence in all it has the most subtle.

From all sort of artistic designs of bottles and vessels were oils, powders or any other potions were carried, the big “baggage” where the Queen Marie Antoinette carried all her beauty and corporal “necessities”, up to the mesmerizing orange garden that stole our sole right away. We couldn’t get enough of its power, of its magic of aroma, colours, of her game of lights and shadows on a Provencal background.

We cross the street with a perfumed soul and take another step into the world of scents at the Fragonard Museum. A guide tells us a lot of interesting things about perfumes, about the difference between perfume and eau de parfum (it’s about the proportions of water and ingredients) and the history of the House from Fuchs up to Fragonard.

Our tour took the road to a special showroom of art and fashion with a Christmas fair prepared for the visitors. A lot of capturing art, couture and also, champagne, foie gras, even massage and beauty treatments.

I was very brief in telling you all these because there will be plenty more to discover!

Stay tuned!
