A new tip for not getting sunburn during summer is to drink more wine. At least, this is what a new Spanish study has found out. The new study suggests that a healthy dose of SPF can be found in blanc sauvignon and can offer summer protection.
Grape derivates or grape flavonoids to protect us from sunburn:
UV radiation can affect cellular life and may result even in cells death. Many studies have showed us how to protect from the sun by using plant-derived antioxidants. The new Spanish study realized by University of Barcelona and The Spanish National Research Council reports that grape derivates or flavonoids found in the grapes protects from UV damages.
How UV radiation can affect our skin?
You may ask how the process of sunburn can happen and how the effects are made on the skin. Well, when the UV rays get to the skin, they activate “reactive oxygen species” that oxidize lipids and DNA. This will lead to cell deaths.
