London Fashion Week gets its vibes quickly in exposing new trends and styles. Simone Rocha is one of them and down to earth seems to be a bit in the distance by revealing the ethereal side. We all get into spiritual, is all gone with the earthy moves. Not totally, though! We have splashes of red and flower yellow, a bit of green and the intense black. But, most of all, we have the pure white created in the baptisme style.
Simone Rocha Spring 2017 collection was inspired by an exhibition which took place in Ireland and showcased works of the photographer Jackie Nickerson showing farm girls alongside paintings like the "Catholic Girls". This seemed like a great idea: bringing farm girls to the podium, to the urban mood.
"I wanted to take those land girls from the farm and bring them to a pure place," said Rocha. It constructed and diconstructed, a mix of elements that contrasted and clinged to each other like ethereal and earthy.
We see broderaie anglaise mixed with with cotton poplin, long dresses with plastic coats and tall boots. We can see tulle and organza mixed into gossamer dresses, some with drooping hems like they were torn. That is a sort of diconstructive geometry but who felts into the right place through its energy.
"Everyone will take holy communion now.", the designer said backstage.
