In front of an assembly that brought together more than 200 guests, Romania celebrated its National Day in Monaco last Saturday, in the Belle Époque room of the Hôtel Hermitage.

The Head of Cabinet of HSH Prince Albert II, Ministers, Ambassadors, Consuls, including the President of ACHM, local elected officials and Mayors of municipalities in the region, honored by their presence the reception given by the Honorary Consul of Romania, Dr Constantin Turchina, and thus wished to show their friendship to the Romanian people and more particularly to the Romanian residents living in the region, and with whom they have established personal and professional relations.

Among the large Romanian community present on site, there was, also, the Charge d'Affaires of the Romanian Embassy (who had come from Paris, specially, to attend this ceremony), the President of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, many Romanian personalities and outstanding members of the Romanian Diaspora, doctors, artists, lawyers, journalists, etc.

In his opening speech the Consul mentioned the current difficult international situation, but also the fact that, despite the difficulties, humanity must continue to move forward and try to keep hope for the positive. He thanked His Serene Highness for the stability and exceptional quality of life that Romanian residents enjoy in Monaco, which has contributed to their personal, professional and social development, while maintaining love and strong ties with their country.

It is in this context that the Consul of Romania presented his country through a slide show, followed by the broadcast of a surprising recording of King Charles III of the United Kingdom, describing Romania and his many visits there (His Highness Royale also owns properties in Transylvania).
In front of a dazzled and amazed audience, The King also evoked his distant origins, up to his ancestor Vlad Tepes, Romanian voivode of the 1400s, and testified his love for the beauties of this country, for its traditions, expressing his admiration for the legendary hospitality of the people, as well as his confidence in the future of this country where he feels "at home".

At the end of this impressive testimony of sympathy from the British Sovereign to the Romanian people, the Consul launched an invitation for all those present to visit Romania, the country where people "come as tourists and leave as friends".

A cocktail then closed this beautiful evening. When leaving, the guests received a gift containing traditional Romanian specialties and the best Romanian wines.
