The Monegasque Red Cross Summer Concert with pop jazz singer Jamie Cullum July 16, 2021 on the Place du Casino
In the presence of HSH Prince Albert II, President of the Monegasque Red Cross, this first summer concert will be a milestone. The Place du Casino has returned to its architecture designed in the 19th century, in order to make this mythical place for walkers and on July 16 is hosting its very first major public event, to support the actions of the Monegasque Red Cross and celebrate the return to life.
After the 71st Monegasque Red Cross Gala in 2019 and the interruption in 2020 due to the Covid 19 pandemic, this summer concert marks an important step in the very conception of this meeting awaited each year by both donors and the public. A new format, at the end of a particular year, an open-air event, in the heart of the Principality, on the new Place du Casino inaugurated just a year ago to host the most beautiful events.
The Monegasque Red Cross
For the organization founded in 1948 by Prince Louis II, this evening highlights its daily actions with the most vulnerable people, tirelessly for seventy-three years. It pays a vibrant tribute to donors to the Monegasque Red Cross, whose generosity helps prevent and alleviate the suffering of those in need. The mission of the Monegasque Red Cross is to save lives and prepare the population for disasters, to support all people in need without discrimination, and to carry out humanitarian awareness and prevention actions. It acts both nationally and internationally.
Supported and guided by the deep convictions of HSH Prince Albert II, Its President, the association has continued to evolve, always supporting and accompanying people in need. Aware of its changing environment, the Monegasque Red Cross is constantly innovating with solutions adapted to the needs of the population.
2020: a special year
Although working in a small area, the Monegasque Red Cross has an important place among the national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies. In 2020, more than 4,354,000 euros were used to carry out its actions in Monaco and around the world. It works internationally in support of other Red Cross and Red Crescent societies facing increasingly complex humanitarian crises. It pays particular attention to isolated and vulnerable people in the Principality, while promoting the involvement of all, especially young people.
The past year was marked by two major crises, the coronavirus pandemic, which impacted all of our habits and activities, and the storm Alex, which severely affected the valleys near Monaco.
In the space of a few days, the Monegasque Red Cross has been able to adapt and reorganize itself in order to create a single living force in the fight against Covid-19. In 2020, 530 volunteer members totaled 57,000 hours of action to provide support as close as possible to the population.
The Monegasque Red Cross has since resumed a normal rhythm by reintegrating its traditional activities (cloakroom, first aid stations, interventions and actions with young people ...) with a desire to effectively fulfill its mission of general interest while developing new actions in all areas for which it is responsible.
The first Monegasque Red Cross Summer Concert
This year the Monegasque Red Cross is particularly proud to welcome Jamie Cullum. The British singer-songwriter, pianist and jazz-pop singer already has eight studio albums to his name. However, his first loves were none other than cinematographic: after brilliant studies in cinema and literature, it was nevertheless in song that he made his debut.
Five years after the release of his first album, he is finally getting closer to his goal by participating in the soundtrack of the film Bridget Jones The Age of Reason by covering the song Everlasting Love. The awards followed and a new opportunity in 2008: he signed the ballad Gran Torino, composed especially for the homonymous film by Clint Eastwood.
A distinguished artist, Jamie Cullum's days are more than full, but he still manages to reconcile everything to perform at the Monegasque Red Cross summer concert on the Place du Casino.
The evening will be open to everyone.
Donors of the Monegasque Red Cross will be received on the new terrace of the Café de Paris before joining the Place du Casino, whose palm trees and fountain will have been skillfully moved with technical means specially designed to make it available at the facilities of this historical concert.
Tradition obliges, the works of Art, specially created on the theme of the Red Cross, are offered by Laurence Jenkell and Nick Danziger, internationally renowned artists.
