On Saturday, the Place du Palais Princier in Monaco transformed into a scene of celebration and unity as an estimated 6,000 Monegasques and residents gathered to honour Prince Albert II's 20th anniversary since ascending the throne.
The event was a heartfelt tribute to two decades of leadership, marked by deep commitment to the environment, humanitarian efforts, and the preservation of Monegasque identity. Since taking over from his father, Prince Rainier III, in July 2005, Prince Albert II has carried forward the principality's legacy while embracing modern global challenges, notably through the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, focused on environmental and ocean conservation.
The anniversary celebration was rich in symbolism and community spirit. Festivities included musical performances, speeches, and a majestic commemorative cake, a grand gesture shared among attendees, reinforcing the familial atmosphere that often characterizes Monaco's close-knit society.
Standing at the foot of the Prince's Palace, the public was visibly moved as the Sovereign Prince appeared, smiling and waving to the crowd that came to express their gratitude and loyalty. His words were filled with humility and affection for the people of Monaco, acknowledging both the past and the shared hopes for the future.
The evening marked a personal milestone for the Prince, but moreover, a collective moment of pride for the Principality, a celebration of continuity, identity, and shared values that define the reign of Prince Albert II.
