Nice, the most filmed and photographed city of the French Riviera

In 2024, the City of Nice once again hosted a very large number of productions, both in the City and at the Victorine Studios. Thus, Nice hosted 610 days of filming and shooting on the public domain.
The Victorine Studios also had a record year with a total of 540 days of occupation of the sets, or, on average, 60 days of occupation of 9 sets of the site.

Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice, President of the Nice Côte d'Azur Metropolis, Deputy President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region:

"2024 is a new record year in terms of filming, on set or outdoors, and shooting in Nice, attesting to the cinematic potential of our city and its power of attraction for national and international productions. Nice is undoubtedly the City of creation and, more particularly, of cinematographic and audiovisual creation. And this is not about to change given the ambition we have for the development of the audiovisual sector in our territory.".

The public domain of the City of Nice was the scene of the filming and shooting of:

ê   3 feature films,
ê   4 television series or TV films,
ê   16 documentaries,
ê   26 television programs,
ê   7 advertisements,
ê   9 short films,
ê   11 corporate films,
ê   9 video clips,
ê   30 photo shoots,
ê   8 school films.

Among the productions hosted in the territory of the City of Nice, we can notably count the following feature films:

ê  Heads of States by Ilya Naishuller with John Cena, Idris Elba (Amazon Prime Video),
ê  Les Immortelles by Caroline Deruas and Jihane Chouaib with Lena Garrel, Emmanuelle Béart, Vihina Giocante (released in theaters in 2026),
ê  Qui Brille au combat by Joséphine Japy with Mélanie Laurent and Pierre-Yves Cardinal (released in theaters in 2026).

The City of Nice has also hosted the following television series and documentaries:

ê Qui sème le vent by Nils-Antoine Sambuc with Isabelle Adjani and Ava Baya (Netflix),
ê Carpe Diem by Julien Guérif and Pierre Isoard with Samuel Le Bihan and Barbara Schulz (TF1),
ê Ms. Playmen by Mario Ruggeri with Carolina Crescentini (Netflix),
ê Beauxbatons by Adélaïde Flamel (web series pilot),
ê Puccini: La passion du féminin by Aurine Crémieu (ARTE),
ê Art + Medicine: Disability, Culture and Creativity (US),
ê Charge around the globe (Orange Film),
ê Monaco Histoire d'une nation inconnue (TV Monaco),
ê Reflection of Gauguin (Finnish TV).

As well as TV shows: The Voice, Married at First Sight, The Best Bakery, The Best Restaurant, Zone Interdite, Familles Nombreuses, Vintage Mecanic (Jaguar), Search for an Apartment or House, La Table à Julie... and advertisements for prestigious brands: Lancôme, Marriot Hotels x George Russell (F1 Driver), Mercedes, Michelin, Massimo Dutti, Isotoner, Tissot, IKKS, Intersports, Cabaïa, Maison Albar, Geox...

The occupation of the sets of the Studios de la Victorine, managed since September 1, 2024 by the concession company "Victorine Studios" chosen by the City of Nice, therefore represented 540 days distributed as follows:

ê 485 days in feature films, including Heads of States by Ilya Naishuller (Amazon Prime Video)
ê 17 days in photo shoots / Fashion
ê 15 days in events
ê 10 days in advertising films
ê 3 days in video clips
ê 10 days in school films

In addition, as part of its policy to develop the film and audiovisual sector, the City of Nice provides assistance with rewriting, production and post-production for projects whose script, casting or filming locations contribute to the influence of the region. To benefit from this assistance, projects must also use the skills of local professionals.

In 2024, the City of Nice provided support to 5 projects: 4 feature films: Roma Elastica by Bertrand Mandico, Qui brille au combat by Joséphine JAPY, Eggo by Julien Ribot and Bahareh Azimi, Saint-Dimitri by Vladilen Vierny and Aliona Zagurovska and a short film: Une belle journée en soleillée by Sarah Bariset.

Some projects supported in 2023 were filmed in the territory in 2024: Burn the Blood by Akaki Popkhadze (theatrical release in January), Who Shines in Combat by Joséphine JAPY. Other projects supported have already been released in theaters or on TV or will be: In the Days That Come by Nathalie Najem, Never Admit by Ivan Calbérac. The Plague by Antoine Garceau, Riviera (s): The Invention of the Côte d'Azur by Stéphane Benhamou.
