The world of yachting has been on a big wave this weekend in Monaco for the Monaco Yacht Show. Port Hercule saw a few super yachts that explore very well the trending of yachting nowadays. A few defining lines mark this field and, although, the changes may not seem very clear, the main points like sustainability, design, eco, are obvious.

Following these lines, the highlights depict very well these trends in tyerms of design, the versatility of space and the need of being sustainable. One of the standout stars of the show was the T52 MY Akula, a 52-meter displacement yacht by Baglietto, marking the shipyard's 170th anniversary in style. With its dark grey hull, Akula embodies both power and elegance, designed by the renowned Francesco Paszkowski with interiors crafted by Team for Design - Enrico Gobbi in collaboration with Carlo Lionetti. The yacht's aggressive exterior lines contrast with a modern and refined interior, rich in natural materials like oak and brass accents.

Inside, the yacht embraces a contemporary aesthetic, where lighting plays a key role in creating an atmosphere of subtle luxury. The design recalls the smooth, rounded curves of aviation fuselages, while the warm, earthy tones evoke the colors of sunrise and sunset-a testament to the thoughtful blend of nature and high design. The fully opening windows connect the beach club and sky lounge to the surrounding ocean, ensuring that whether guests are indoors or out, they are always in tune with the sea.

Sirena Yachts: Bold New Horizons with Sirena 118

Another exciting debut was from Sirena Yachts, who introduced their Sirena 118 project, a groundbreaking addition to their portfolio. With a waterline length of over 24 meters and under 300GT, Sirena is stepping into new territory with a yacht that embodies the brand's commitment to eco-friendly design and innovation. Sirena's presentation at the Monaco Yacht Show marks their ambition to redefine the future of yachting by offering larger, more luxurious composite yachts that don't compromise on performance or environmental responsibility.

J Craft Boats: Celebrating 25 Years of Iconic Craftsmanship

Also making waves at this year's show was J Craft Boats, celebrating its 25th anniversary. Known for blending classic design with modern technology, J Craft has expanded its influence well beyond Europe, particularly in the U.S. market. Their participation in events like the Homo Faber exhibition and the Venice Film Festival this year is a testament to their enduring appeal. At the Monaco Yacht Show, J Craft showcased their legendary craftsmanship, a hallmark of their quarter-century legacy, with plans booked until 2026.

Honoring the Innovators: The Honours 2024

Behind the sleek designs and cutting-edge technology lies a community deeply committed to making a difference, not only in the yachting world but also in the global community. The Honours 2024 ceremony celebrated figures who have left an indelible mark on both yachting and society. These laureates are a testament to the spirit of innovation and philanthropy that drives the industry forward.

Frédéric Jousset, founder of ArtExplorer, was recognized for his efforts to democratize access to art through his superyacht, transforming cultural engagement by bringing museums to global destinations. Supported by institutions like the Louvre and UNESCO, Jousset's initiative redefines how art is experienced and accessed, making cultural education more inclusive.

Mike Horn, the legendary explorer, was honored for his work with Pangaea X, a project that empowers young people to tackle environmental issues head-on. His mission to educate the next generation about the planet's beauty and fragility resonates deeply within the yachting community, which is becoming increasingly focused on sustainability.

Another standout honoree was Nick Entwisle, the driving force behind Yachting Gives Back, a charity dedicated to combating hunger and poverty in Mallorca. Entwisle's initiative has gained widespread support from the yachting community, proving that luxury and philanthropy can go hand in hand, helping to address pressing social issues through industry collaboration.
