Yves Bigot, the managing director of TV5 Monde came to Monaco to meet the Monegasque journalists on April 22. During the press conference, MR Yves Bigot talked about Monaco's entry into TV5 Monde chain.
Monaco joins TV5 Monde
TV5 Monde is a French-speaking television network and Monaco joins the five States already present such as France, the Swiss Confederation, Canada, Quebec and Belgium. Monaco will contribute financially for its presence in the Club and will participate in its governance. There is already the program Monte Carlo Riviera, presented by Cyril Viguier, which sets the premises for the future television channel TV5 Monde. Monte Carlo TV itself will be launched next year.
"It is 0.4% of the programs which are broadcast on the general channels of TV5. It's not much but as it goes (it can grow)" declared Mr Yves Bigot.
The entry of Monaco is important for the TV 5 Monde group.
"It has been more than 35 years since any new state had an interest in TV5 Monde. I that my predecessors were not concerned, on the one hand and on the other hand, that there had not been solicitations by other States. The fact that the Principality is a member shows the attractiveness of our channel." continued Mr. Yves Bigot.
Monegasque television programs
Monaco has a lot to give viewers with all its lifestyle and events, rather cultural, sporting and environmental. There are subjects that are asleep and that can come up on the channel by awakening people's interest. Like, for example, health. The TV5 Monde audienceThe TV5 Monde audience reaches more than 214 countries, 403 million households all over the world with channels devoted to the art of living, children, culture, etc. The largest audience pool is in Africa and the largest audience, in recent years, is in India.TV5 Monde did a study to see why the largest audience was in India and the result showed that Indians watched Quebec series because they wanted to learn the Canadian language and culture. Canada is open to receiving people from the Commonwealth.
As part of a digital evolution, the generalist channels still show an interest in the public and the importance of well-targeted programs to manifest themselves in an ever-changing environment.
