From 13th to 25th of November, Grand Palais from Paris hosts an events that mixes art and fashion and that honours the first perfume of Christian Dior: Miss Dior. The exposition is called Miss Dior - Esprit Dior and wants to capture the essence of the fragrance through the eyes of the fifteen female contemporary artists from around the globe.
It is known that Christian Dior was very fond of art and found inspiration from artists like Pablo Picasso, Salvatore Dali or Alberto Giacometti. That could be seen on his art gallery on Paris' Rue La Boétie, from 1928 to 1934.
The fragrance Miss Dior is honoured with different artistic visions. Iranian photographer and filmmaker Shirin Neshat was inspired by the muse of Dior, Natalie Portman and created a black and white movie on the beach with the music specially composed by Johnny Azari. "It's like a reference to a silent film, a surrealist film - to films by [Luis] Bunuel - an epoch that was also important for Christian Dior because he made numerous exhibitions on surrealism," said Hervé Mikaeloff, the show's curator.
Also, the Chinsese artist visioned Miss Dior dress with thousands of embroidered flowers that were used for creating the perfume.
Also, rare photographies and some outfits created by Raf Simons for Natalie Portman come to bring a great retrospective from a products that has become legendary.
It's a good time because Miss Dior is 65 years old," said Mikaleoff, cited by WWD. "It's really entered into the iconography of perfumery and the iconography of women."
