57 Runway Shows 14 Presentations, Sensible Fashion and Virtual Reality

From 21st to 25th of October 2015 Moscow will host Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia, Spring-Summer 2016. The main venue is Manege, located in a few steps from Red Square and the Kremlin, also there are different locations around the city for presentations and fashion shows. MBFW Russia will showcase collections from over 70 designers from Russia, Georgia, Ukraine, Italy, Turkey, China and other countries.

The most renowned Russian fashion designer SLAVA ZAITSEV (76 years old, nicknamed as Red Dior decades ago) traditionally opens Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia, which celebrated its 30th season (15 years!) in March 2015. Slava Zaitsev's prêt-a-porter de luxe collection is called Life Patterns and his opening show will feature the capsule collection of YeZ by YEGORZAITSEV. MBFW Russia lineup represents the best Russian and ex-Soviet Union Russian speaking designers: Alena Akhmadullina, VIVA VOX, YASYA MINOCHKINA (Ukraine), Y U L I A NIKOLAEVA, PIROSMANI BY JENYA MALYGINA, IGOR GULYAEV, MASTERPEACE, Julia Dalakian, GOGA NIKABADZE (Georgia) and many others. International program will include the following runway shows: evening gowns from Tarik Ediz (Turkey) and feminine looks from Tony Ward. Among the talented new-comers supported by Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia are: I V K A, KETIone, Madina Varisova, Tako Mekvabidze (Georgia), IVANOVA, Eka Balanchivadze (Georgia), ARAIDA and others.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia actively supports socially related events. Russian brand ZARINA will demonstrate the new collection designed in collaboration with the Russian top-model and the founder of Naked Hearts Foundation, Natalia Vodianova. Besides, for the first time in fashion industry people with special needs act as co-designers: prints for the ZARINA designs were based on their sketches. 

For the second time MBFW Russia is involved in another important event: WearABLE Future. WearABLE Future is the demonstration of the collection of clothes specially designed for people with special needs, elderly people and everyone who has mobility limitations. This project was performed by the international fashion and accessories contest for handicapped people Bezgraniz Couture and British Higher School of Design. Actors of the Theatre of Open-Hearted, girls in wheelchairs, champions of Paralympic Games and other models will be on the catwalk to demonstrate the collection.

This season the international program of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia features the fashion show of the leading Chinese brand NE•TIGER, participant of the largest Fashion Week in the South-East Asia - Mercedes-Benz China Fashion Week. In Moscow designer Zhang Zhifeng will demonstrate the collection where the past and the present live together in harmony, where eastern and western cultures are rolled into one. Fashion show of Chinese designers at MBFW Russia will be held within the partnership program between the Fashion Weeks of Russia and China. The three-year agreement on strategic partnership was signed between the Russian Fashion Council and China Fashion Association in 2014.

This season YouVisit, a leading virtual reality technology provider, announced a new partnership with the biggest fashion event in Eastern Europe, The Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Russia. Looking to bring more exposure to new and upcoming Russian designers, YouVisit is developing an all-access virtual reality experience of the fashion show that will be accessible to mobile users across the globe. Working with YouVisit, the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Russia will be fully recorded and hosted on the VR provider's platform. Event organizers will also have the opportunity to leverage YouVisit's powerful analytical platform to collect information about individual visits in addition to tracking the total number of users, viewer locations and engagements.
