Men's designers inspiration for the runways

fashion & styletrends

10 January 2013

Milan's men fashion runways make its way with quick steps. Every designer comes with a fresh new vibe and takes the inspiration from various fields.

We give you now the preview of what inspired the new collection autumn winter 2013 for men:

Moncler Gamme Bleu:

"For fall-winter 2013, the concept centers around the Scottish Highland Games." - Thom Browne, creative director, Moncler Gamme Bleu

"This collection celebrates Missoni's artisanal and innovative knitwear heritage where inspiration has been taken from the great landscape of North America." - Angela Missoni, creative director, Missoni

Dirk Bikkembergs:

"A-W 2013 at Dirk Bikkembergs focuses on knitwear, leatherwear and technical sport-construction technology, creating a collection that is sport-luxe, urban-elegant and graphic-masculine." - Hamish Morrow, creative director, Dirk Bikkembergs

"It's all about creating new heritage pieces that inspire the modern man's wardrobe." - Martin Cooper, creative director, Belstaff

Salvatore Ferragamo:

"The Ferragamo man is dynamic with a silhouette defined by overcoats and layering." - Massimiliano Giornetti, creative director, Salvatore Ferragamo

Diesel Black Gold:

"Cosmic Tour. The Diesel Black Gold F-W '13 men's wear collection is inspired by the most creative and influential musician of the 20th century, Jimi Hendrix." - Diesel men's creative team

Roberto Cavalli:

"The Cavalli man embodies a seductive gentleman's soul. He looks at the future without forgetting about the past. He adds a personal touch to his elegance through his wardrobe's sartorial attitude and the prints inspired by the nature surrounding him, which are made geometric in order to express a strong, sophisticated personality." - Roberto Cavalli, creative director, Roberto Cavalli

"I was very inspired by early 20th-century motor sports and the classic suiting that men were wearing even when they were driving race cars and motorcycles - they seamlessly pulled off dapper and rugged at the same time and I wanted to recreate this vibe for the fall-winter collection." - Mark McNairy, designer, Woolrich Woolen Mills

"Oversize and deconstructed double-breasted light gray mélange overcoat in pure alpaca over a light gray herringbone suit in pure silk with a white formal shirt and black velvet cummerbund. Black smooth calf leather oxford shoes, with light gold and shiny palladium buckle."- Anna Zegna, image director, Ermenegildo Zegna

"Heat-sealed raincoat with double-layer detail in edge-cut felted wool, conical cut pant and multifaceted bag in leather. Bonded cotton blazer with second-layer detail in felted wool, conical pant with multifaceted bag in leather." - Paul Surridge, creative director, Z Zegna
