Matsuri Nice opens its doors on Place Grimaldi: a chic and relaxed new Japanese address on the French Riviera.
Matsuri continues its expansion in France and opens in Nice, in the heart of the iconic Place Grimaldi district. This new opening represents a major milestone for the brand, which continues to share its contemporary, gourmet, and accessible vision of Japanese cuisine in distinctive locations.
This location is part of a joint venture with a local partner, with whom Matsuri shares the same ambition: to offer the people of Nice and visitors to the French Riviera a true living space faithful to the brand's spirit. A place where Japanese cuisine is experienced in a relaxed, convivial, and decidedly modern way.
A retro-nautical décor by Jessica Mille
Conceived as a true living space, Matsuri Nice - Côte d'Azur incorporates the brand's iconic elements while reinterpreting them with a modern touch. The restaurant was designed by Jessica Mille, an architect and member of the talent pool with which Matsuri regularly collaborates.
Her design features a retro 1970s aesthetic, subtly inspired by the maritime world. The varnished and lacquered wood walls, treated like the hull of a legendary Riva boat, are punctuated by chrome-plated stainless steel portholes. The result is a decor that is at once warm, graphic, and immersive, inviting both relaxation and escape.
With this new location, Matsuri strengthens its presence on the French Riviera and offers an authentic and festive Japanese experience in a unique setting that perfectly complements the elegance of Nice and the Mediterranean spirit. The opening of Matsuri Nice is like a breath of fresh air. A wonderful promise of convivial moments spent enjoying ultra-fresh sashimi, creative maki, flavorful robata, and signature cocktails in a decidedly welcoming atmosphere.
We sampled and journeyed like a ship through an ocean of sushi and Japanese dishes.
