After 16 years of representing Louis Vuitton, part of the corporate LVMH run by the French magnat Bernard Arnault, Marc Jacobs wants to take his own brand into his own hands.

As part of the American culture, he succeeded over the years in implanting a certain mentality to Louis Vuitton brand and take it from luxury travel bags concept to a global fashion icon. Marc Jacobs as well as John Galliano for Dior or Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel is known to put spectacular fashion shows on stage. Also, the cultural part of the brand was put on a high level with organised expositions like an entire floor of a hotel. His extravagancy wants to be put in the service of his own brand so Marc Jacobs begins the preparations for the IPO.

This is said to take place within the next three years.

Who will be the successor of Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton brand?

The name of Marc Jacobs successor at Louis Vuitton brand is not yet revealed although many voices say that the frontrunner for this could be Nicolas Ghesquière. I guess will just have to wait and see.
