Chanel is opening today an exhibition at Saatchi Gallery in London. It is a like a bond statement for the fashion house between the past and the futur. Keeping the line straight onto the brand's heritage and the futur vision of Karl Lagerfeld, the exhibiton wants to be the perfect link in time becoming ... timeless.
The exhibition called 'Mademoiselle Prive' is a garden itself on the inside and the outside. The beautiful designs created by the British landscape designers Harry and David Rich show to the jewelry collection that Chanel launched in 1932 and the pieces from collections created by Karl Lagerfeld. From the ceiling, various installations that outline the house's codes, a maze of huge swathes. And a lot of interactivity: workshops where you can learn how to create a fragrance or a piece of clothing.
Also, on the wall a video with Karl Lagerfeld and Geraldine Chaplin is projected on a smartphone or Ipad. The video is named 'Visite Nocturne' and the ghost Gabrielle Chanel can be seen, played by Geraldine Chaplin.
"Karl was telling me ‘Stand up straight, run up the stairs. Because ghosts have no pain.' So I kept thinking, this is her ghost who feels no pain - and can put up a good fight," said Geraldine. So, the video is about a controversy that the ghost og Gabrielle puts with Karl and a conciliation about the idea that Karl has continued the history of the house over the years and developed it.
In the meantime, Chanel is preparing the next show for 2016. And voices say that it will be in Havana.
