HUGO BOSS and Rockbund Art Museum announce a new award for Contemporary Art in Asia
The first edition of this award, which will take place in September 2013, will be devoted to the emergent artists native from Big China along with others from China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. It is aimed at inventing, at bringing some change and at representing social, economic and cultural changes in Asia.
HUGO BOSS ASIA ART follows HUGO BOSS PRIZE founded in 1996 by HUGO BOSS and Guggenheim foundation of New York. It rewards the artists whose jobs represent a major contribution to the field of contemporary art. Since its first edition in 1996, this award has already rewarded the American artist Matthew Barney (1996) and Danh Vo (2012).
From mid-September, the chosen finalists will introduce their writings to Rockbund ArtMuseum. The laureate who will be announced during exhibition will win HUGO BOSS ASIAART award and 300 000 RMB / Yuans.

Every other year, for every edition, the Rockbund Art Museum will establish a list of independent jury composed of commissioners of exhibitions, managers of museums, critics of art and artists. These all contributed to the evolution of contemporary art in Asia and worldwide.
The members of the 2013 jury are:

- Cosmin Costinas (Manager / commissioner of exhibition of the Paratrooper Site, Hong Kong)
- Yuko Hasegawa (Commissioner of exhibition and manager of the Contemporary art museum, Tokyo)
- Boo Hanru (independent Commissioner of exhibition and critic, San Fransisco and Paris)
- Manray Hsu (independent and critical Commissioner of exhibition, Taipei) H
- Clara Kim (Commissioner of exhibition senior of the arts centre Walker, Minneapolis)
- Dr. Alexandra Munroe (Commissioner of exhibition senior for Asiatic art in the museum Guggenheim, New York)
- Jochen Volz (Manager of programmes, gallery Serpentine, London)
- Wu Wei (Executive director of the magazine of Chinese art, Shanghai)
- Paine J. Yao (Commissioner of exhibition senior of the museum M +, Hong Kong)
- Peng Yu (Artist, Beijing) - Anthony Yung (Researcher senior in archive of art of Asia, Hong Kong)
- Zhao Li (Professor in the academic centre of «liqueur brandy art», Beijing)
At the same time, a programme of education and of research will be offered to discover and to think on the current challenges of contemporary art in Asia. This programme will include interviews with commissioners of exhibitions and the artists, debates with critics and researchers as well as symposium with various experts, jurors and finalists.
