Hublot invites Damas at the Big Bang Unico Gourmet

Hublot's starred and gastronomic adventure began in 2017 with Andreas Caminada. Since then, 7 starred chefs and great cooks have joined the Hublot family. For the second time, Hublot is bringing together several of its chefs for a private dinner and giving carte blanche to two of them to create a "First, Unique, and Different" dinner. Four starred hands, who come together for the first time, to compose a menu merging the best, the style and the signature of Anne-Sophie Pic & Yannick Alléno. For a chef, the knife is a constant ally - no knife, no dish - and among the different materials that shape knives, Damascus steel is the most iconic. A material with a shimmering imprint that now forges the Big Bang Unico Gourmet in a limited edition of 200 pieces. The gastronomic spirit extends to the bracelet cut from kitchen apron fabric with an opening facilitated by velcro, useful and practical... and not just in the kitchen.

October 12, 2022, Atelier des Lumières, Paris, Fusion in the kitchen

For one evening, in the Hublot brigade, four starred chefs. The challenge, to bring two together in the kitchen and let the fusion operate. The result, a unique experience and menu, an indelible imprint, having marked the spirits, from knives to watches. In a four-handed menu, Anne-Sophie & Yannick have fused two ingredients essential to their cuisine and that of Hublot - respect for raw materials and the quest for innovation through taste. They have also merged the instinctive and intuitive cuisine of Anne-Sophie Pic with the twisted technique of terroir and modernity of Yannick Alléno. A meeting of people and taste that gave life to a "First, Unique, and Different" experience and menu. Around the table, one hundred guests lived a timeless moment alongside the chefs and their team. For once, seated, Eneko Atxa and Paul Pairet, took part in this extraordinary experience, on the other side of the mirror.

Big Bang Unico Gourmet - Limited edition of 200 piecesTo celebrate its Gastronomy family, Hublot imagined transposing the steel of choice for chefs' knives into that of its watches. Damascus steel leaves its original mark on the case and bezel of the Big Bang Unico Gourmet. With its strap with Velcro opening, the UNICO HUB1280 self-winding manufacture movement will hardly have time to time the time needed for the watch to go from the wrist to the stainless steel of the chefs' worktops.

A legendary steel on the wrist

It is the legendary steel that historically bore the name of WOOTZ, born in the region of Damascus 300 years BC. J.-C. and who fashioned the strongest and sharpest swords. Today, Damascus steel or Damascus steel refers to a technique of hammering and bending steel that makes it more resistant. It is the steel that shapes the kitchen knives that starred chefs love. It is the steel that now shapes the Big Bang in a limited edition of 200 - the Big Bang Unico Gourmet. This patented steel is called Damasteel, a steel produced by the Swedish company Damasteel, which has mastered the manufacture of this material since 1876.

A unique steel with greater resistance, a different steel with its unique frame forged under the press. Damasteel is not a classic metal, it is a metallic composite born from two types of steel - one dark, 304L made of a majority of carbon, the other lighter, 316L - forged, folded, folded like puff pastry, then pressed. A matrix rendering that sees the two materials weld together, producing a unique visual frame each time. Moiré patterns which, like a fingerprint, are never identical. To adapt perfectly to the dimensions of the watch, Hublot has chosen a specific design, a framework based on the fusion of ancestral know-how and innovation developed by Damasteel allowing surface corrosion of the composite to reveal the stratification of the two steels, revealing the patterns by contrast of material. Beyond its highly recognizable aesthetics, damask steel is also recognized for its greater resistance than traditional steel.

From gastronomy to watchmaking, the date of October 12, 2022 will remain as an indelible mark.
