How to decorate your home for Christmas in order to feel calm and harmonious, joyful and blissful? Feng Shui can help.

What is Feng Shui?

Feng Shui is a Chinese philosophy of life that mixes feng meaning wind with shui meaning water, two primordial elements to create the basis of a peaceful and harmonious life. It is about humanity connected to the surrounding environnement. Feng Shui is a practice of arranging the pieces in living spaces to create balance with the natural world.

Feng Shui Essentials

The essential principles of feng shui are the commanding position, the bagua, and the five elements. The commanding position is where you want to spend most of your time in a room, farthest from the door. The Bagua areas are part of your life related to career, love, wealth and so on. The five elements as earth, water, metal, wood and fire need to work together to create a healthy environment. When you feng shui your home, you harmonize these elements. You need to focus your energy on a certain aspect and prioritize it. For example, the bedroom is related to your youth and rejuvenation and it is connected to the earth part. You should incorporate earth tones, ceramics, crystals.

How to feng shui your Christmas?

You need to balance all these elements into a space of equilibrium. You want to attract positivity, fresh energy and blissful frame.

First of all, get rid of unnecessary objects in order for chi to circulate. Donate them! Then, place your Christmas tree in the east or south east area of your living room to boost harmony and health for the entire family.

What colors and decorations for Christmas?

Gold for Christmas

Gold is the feng shui color for Christmas. Put a little bit of gold everywhere, candies, bows, wrappings. Gold represents wealth and prosperity.

Place and decorate your Christmas tree according to your dreams

A lighted Christmas tree is ideal to sparkle opportunities. If you want more money, put your Christmas tree or decorations in the Southeast corner of your home. If you want a new love, place your tree in the NW corner. Family harmony? Then, the mix of red and gold should be the option.

The North West corner: international travel, opportunities, father figure, men. Decorate with silver and gold

The South corner: social standing, recognition, fame. Decorate with red, green or purple, birds' nest, branches

The South East corner: wealth, abundance. Decorate with light green, blue, water objects like seashells, ships.

The East corner: health, family. Decorate with blue and green colors, and wood objects like pine cones

The North West: wisdom, education. Decorate with red and gold, crystals, red and white lights.

The South West: relationships, marriage. Decorate with red and gold, crystals, red and white lights.

Don't forget about your mistletoe that banishes evil for the year ahead.

How to decorate your Christmas table?

The table is the central element of family reunion, a symbol of sharing, and peace. The Feng Shui version is with apples, candles, red and white flowers. Create a warm ambiance that can have the mix of elements described above, according to your wishes.

Fill your home with appealing scents that mark this period of the year. Orange, cinnamon, lemon are essential oils that can be diffused in the atmosphere.

Put Bells on Your Front Door

Bells can be a great accessory for home and for your front door, all year round. They clear the space everytime your door opens or closes.

The objective of your decoration is to bring you coziness and relaxed time at home. It is that time of the year when the beauty of your home relates very much to your beauty and connection to essentials. Focus as much on the harmony as on the spreading of loving emotions.
