How to Co-ordinate your Design Style Inside and Outside

This isn't something that's seen very often and can therefore be a quirky addition to your home. Why isn't it seen very often? Well, because, in some cases, it's very hard to pull off and requires a lot of creative flair. Of course, in this sense, the theme matches the design style for both the inside and the outside of your home. Some people are able to do this quite naturally, with the use of materials such as wood aswell as advertising their general personality to the world in both settings. If you want to take it one step further, you can actually make the front and the back of your house match the interior perfectly to add a unique look and charm that may be lacking in your neighborhood.

So how do you do this? Here are some tips you can employ.

Use The Same Materials

As mentioned before, wood is a commonly used material that's seen both inside and outside the home. However, if your budget can stretch one step further, why not incorporate other materials both inside and the outside of your home, such as accent walls, flooring, or cabinetry, to give a flow and a sense of continuity? When it comes to flooring, you can have tiles on the exterior of your home that are made from the same stone as the interior, so head to mystonefloor.com for some more tips.

Use The Same Colors

Many homes will have a color scheme that works throughout the interior, but have you everthought about applying it to the exterior too? Aim to look at the architectural elements of yourhome, its exterior and at the complementary colors that exist on the interior. This could involve using similar shades and colors found in the exterior materials, such as on the roof, brickwork, or the guttering.

Look At Sightlines

You should consider how the interior space connects with the exterior views. So, ensure that there are matching architectural elements in both spaces, such as matching window designs, doors, and glass walls that will frame the outside scenery. This will enhance the visual flow from the inside and the outside and vice versa, creating a theme of continuity.

Use The Same Textures

There are textures and themes that can be applied to the exterior of the home as well as the interior. This could include elements such as patterns that are seen in a focal point in the home being applied to the exterior textures or even motifs.

The Landscaping

This is where you can use plants and sculptures to extend your interior design to the outsideof your home. If you have a modern or minimalist interior, you can extend the aesthetics to the outdoor space, with clear lines and simple landscaping, as well as minimal outdoor furnishings or that aforementioned sculpture. If your home is more classical or rural, then you can aim to use woods that are also used throughout your home, as well as plants thatmay be a bit wilder looking, and do away with those crisp lines altogether.
This will also allow you to experiment more with color, as well as the height of the plants andexternal features, to bring everything together.
