Greolieres, a history from 1033:
Greolieres is a small medieval French village on the southern flank of Cheiron mountains. Its history goes back in 1033 under the name of Graulearias and it still keeps the charme as the time stopped for a moment. You can feel walking through its ruins that a part of ancient and medieval time walks with you, too.
Ruins of medieval castels, chapels and old buildings:
There are ruins of medieval castles in the upper and lower village, ancient chapels, old buildings and narrow streets – they all compose Greolieres’ charme.Walking up the hill on the old ruins gives you a panoramic view of Greolieres down village. They are situated at 300 m above the current village. The ruins include a 13th century chateau and the rebuilt 13th century Romanesque Saint-Etienne Chapel.
In the lower part of the village, there are the ruins of an older 11th century chateau.
The place is visited in the summer by tourists and hikers and in the winter for skiing.
