Increasingly present on the big screen, increasingly recognized by critics, more loved by the public, more visible in festivals, the unique look of the documentary on the world deserves recognition within Cannes Film Festival.
The Golden Eye, The Documentary Award was established in 2015 on the initiative of the Scam and Bertuccelli, with the active complicity of the Cannes Film Festival and its general delegate Thierry Fremaux, and in partnership with Ina; it rewards a documentary presented in Cannes selections (Official Selection, Un Certain Regard, Cannes Classics, Special Screenings and out of competition, Fortnight, Critics' Week).
The international jury of this second edition was chaired by Gianfranco Rosi, Italian director, Golden Bear at the Berlinale 2016. He is surrounded by Anne Aghion, director Franco-American, Natacha Regnier, Belgian actress, Thierry Garrel, advisor french artistic and Amir Labaki, critic and director of the Brazilian festival.
The jury will present The Golden Eye to the author of the award-winning film on Saturday 21 May at 24:00 at the Palais des Festivals. This prize is worth € 5,000.
