A color explosion, a Roy Lichtenstein attitude towards prints on textile, a painting like clothing - the Prada Spring 2014 fashion collection is an ode to oddity.
It is a clear fashion statement that expresses the strength of a woman in all her confidence, a woman that knowns perfectly how to wear her clothes. So, the dresses, the skirts, the coats, all came printed, jeweled, in fur intarsias mixed with embroideries and sophisticated cuts. Sport is a part of the tones of the collection with striped legwarmers, cool girlish shoes.
"I'm fixated with the idea of women of strength," Prada said cited by WWD. "There is a necessity to be strong, visible, fighters, and this is an encouragement to be out there and to do something.
"It's absurd, against the rules; it's a happy collection," she continued. "You need to be fighting. It's about a debate about women; it's a political discourse: ‘I'm allowed to do whatever I want to do with clothes.' If they see you, they listen."
So, it is a happy fashion collection with the proclamation I am a woman in mind.
