The Cruise 2015 collection explores the dichotomy between sheer beauty and inner strength. Surface and substance. The Gucci woman expresses her innate duality with optical and tactile illusions. Designs reveal repurposed materials, trompe-l'œil effects, and a new abstraction of the House's most iconic print.

The redefined Flora pattern embodies the collection's feminine plurality. Creative Director Frida Giannini has collaborated with artist Kris Knight for this subversive reading of the floral bouquet that tells of outward beauty and its inextricable subtext. Nocturnal blossoms - each alluding to a unique Roman story - revolve around the moonflower and reach their height at night, dawn or dusk. This is a provocative story of dark, enchanting flowers that command power with their natural qualities.

SILHOUETTE

Boyish yet graceful. Graphic lines and linear graphics. Defining the lines of the body, the ladylike chemisier dress features a knee-length silhouette that gives way to pleats. Outerwear essentials in the shape of the deconstructed trench, the nautical peacoat, the double-breasted overcoat, and exotic jackets. A low waist outlines new bermuda shorts and Sixties-style pants, while oversized sailor-inspired trousers contrast with fitted blazers and feminine knitwear. Tactile detailing with python collars and marine buttons. Meanwhile, a new foulard punctuates the neckline - in unexpected nappa, as soft as silk, to layer and knot as a scarf.

COLORS and MATERIALS

A pastel state of mind. Pearl, soft pink, chamomile, citrus yellow, mimosa, eucalyptus green, and shades of blue alongside neutrals - almond, rosy beige, camel, black - and a deserving hint of orange. Classic materials alternate with technical treatments. The peacoat in either wool or wool crepe bonded with jersey. In double wool, the trench becomes as supple as a robe. A protagonist of the collection, denim takes on different finishes and characterizes the stone-washed vintage-style shirt, the lightweight indigo sleeveless dress, and distressed dockside trousers. Three-dimensional embroideries embellish the stretch jean skirt or the boat-neck cashmere sweater. Ultra-feminine, plongé leather for a chemisier dress, boasting an unlined effect, or the above-the-knee skirt cinched at the waist with a nappa scarf. Boyish style for leather shorts or pants. For the overcoat or the jean-inspired jacket, colorful python bonded with nappa. Flora as seen through the eyes of Kris Knight makes its debut on silk day dresses, canvas shorts or pants, the cotton shirt. In its most romantic guise, the spaghetti-strap Flora dress with a jour stitching.

EVENING

Sleek style with optical impact. Winding crystal embroideries outlining silk column gowns - creating subtle, revealing hints that quietly catch the eye.

Daytime essentials. The trompe-l'œil handbag features double construction inspired by two bags but crafted as one carryall. Clean, architectural lines for the calfskin clutch, shoulder bag, and shopping bag - all featuring signature Bamboo as the standout detail. The silver horsebit bracelet for a touch of jewelry. Also featuring the horsebit detail, resort-style flat slippers alternate with high-heel boots and booties - in metallic silver leather, calfskin or python - fit for a beautiful escape.
