Modern architecture was the inspiration for the Laurèl Fall/Winter 2013 Collection, presented today at 1 pm at the runway marquee, Brandenburg Gate, as part of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin. Press, customers and VIP guests were invited on a journey into a modern, futuristic world that reflects the interaction of architecture and fashion as an expression of our contemporary age.

The moon and the stars: Hollywood actor Joseph Fiennes and his wife Maria Dolores Diéguez, singer Josephine de la Baume (band Singtank, wife of producer Mark Ronson), Lilly Becker, Barbara Becker, Noah Becker,FranziskaKnuppe, Natalia Wörner, PeriBaumeister, Cosma-Shiva Hagen, Elisa Schmidt (singer with Femme Schmidt), Simone Thomalla, MirjaDuMont, Angela Lanz (wife of TV presenter Markus Lanz), Florian & Miriam Langenscheidt, Gerit Kling and Mariella Ahrens took a seat in the front row. Even a very pregnant Jana Ina Zarellaand her husband Giovanni paid an exclusive visit to the Laurèl show!

"On my extensive travels, I often encounter cityscapes and buildings that impress and inspire me. When I stand in a building designed by ZahaHadid, for example - like the Regium Waterfront, the Performing Arts Centre or the Pierres vives Building, I feel as if I were in a different world. These are settings that spark my imagination and deliver ideas for my creative work" explains Laurèl's Creative Director Elisabeth Schwaiger on the inspiration behind the new collection. "This season, the models on our runway are almost like moon-dwellers - floating between heaven and earth. The look is cool, smart, sophisticated and focused on the essence of being."

Shapes and forms drawn from architecture are translated into sophisticated cuts, skillfully engineering an interplay between voluminous styles and slim silhouettes. New draped down, dyed furs and lavish hand-crafted embellishments such as sequins and beaded embroidery fly the flag of femininity and form striking contrasts to clean-cut looks. Colors range from white, grey, silver and black to glowing royal blue, pink and sizzling red. All models are made up with red lips to provide an overall consistent minimalism.

Just as buildings serve people as homes, clothing fulfils the same function for the body. It provides a sheltering space in which we feel at ease, while also acting as a backdrop against which we can present our personalities. Fashion is thus transformed into a language, a means of expression. The title MOONWALK symbolizes the view of these new urban worlds: assured and confident, yet light and playful, the Laurèl Woman moves forward with the Fall/Winter 2013 Collection.
