On the 6th of January is Epiphany Day
On the 6th of January is Epiphany Day, an opportunity to talk to Louis Lagrange about his preparations. To treat his customers well, the chef prepares homemade Galettes des Rois for us and invites all his customers to come and taste them on January 8 at La Brigade du Goût.
"This is an opportunity to see each other and start the year off well with joy and good humor as we are used to here at La Brigade du Goût, in a friendly atmosphere!" Said Louis Lagrange.
The Tradition of Galette des Rois
Tradition has it that this day of January 6 is celebrated the arrival of the famous Three Kings, Melchior, Balthazar and Gaspard to the baby Jesus. The Three Kings gave gifts to Jesus when he was born. Nothing to do with the galette. This tradition is totally pagan with origins in Roman antiquity, during the feast of Saturnalia. The Romans made a cake in which they introduced a designer bean "The Prince of Saturnalia".Now the tradition has evolved and we can also find the Queen. This celebration takes place on the day of Epiphany, January 6th.
You can find the magnificent Galette des Rois, homemade, at La Brigade du Goût and also come for tasting on January 8, from 3 p.m.
