First work dedicated to the know-how of the jeweller of the place
Vendôme, Dior Joaillerie (Rizzoli, March, 2012) gives to the readers
an immersion into the job of its artistic director.
Scooping out her inspiration from a mixture of culture pop, of
plant motives and of details dressmaking, the work of Victoire de
Castellane reflects a playful mind, where the knots of diamonds
remind of undone cordons, where ladybugs are varnished,
where rings bloom as flowers, where naive living beings
are reinvented in opals and multicoloured styles, where
snakes, salamanders and frogs are bedecked with jewel, with emeralds,
where the heads of death carry crowns of
diamonds and where roses dress the nicest dress of ball …
This book, richly illustrated with more than 200 colour photographs, invites to discovery of
know-how, of the aesthetics and the collections of Dior Joaillerie. It leans besides on
an erudite and poetic text of Michèle Heuzé, historian of the jewel, which plunges us in
the world of the luxury and French refinement.
Michèle Heuzé is jewel historian and gemmologue. In 2005, she was commissioner of an exhibition
on vanguard in jewellery-making. It accomplished a documentary on the French jewellery-making in 2008 and has
contributed to numerous magazines, as The Stamp, the object of art, and catalogues of exhibitions.
