When it comes to Haute Couture, Dior has it all and Raf Simons knows how to handle the magic wand. With a retrospective into history, the fashion designer knew how to turn all the past inspiration into a modern chic collection.
A mix of influences starting from 18th century up to the last century, the collection shows a nowadays touch filled with glamour. The dresses were sprinkled with smart embroidery, free lines but well defined curves into simple yet big volumes on the sides. The designer made use of the frock coat turning it into a casual outfit by removing its sleeves. The board sweeping coats carried an Edwardian style with a sixties touch. Also, as odd as it may seem, we make a jump and enter the space by using elements from the astronaut suits into dresses.
"This collection is very historically inspired," Raf Simons said. "It felt like a challenge to look further back in history and see how I could modernize certain aesthetics. That is my constant drive, to make it younger and make it relevant to women in their lives today. Always, to be modern."
The collection was embellished by the white orchid wall that created a contemporary glamour and modern chic touch.
