Dinner in White celebrates 30 years in Paris and invite the world to share the largest picnic ever
For the first time, the Paris Dinner will open to 35 nationalities.
20,000 to 30,000 people expected on June 3, 2018, a third of whom are foreigners.
Around the friendship, the elegance and the gastronomy, the event becomes the reference of the art of living in the French way.
The Dinner in White, created in 1988 in Paris by François Pasquier and a few close friends, has become in a few decades the essential event for epicureans throughout the world. On June 3, 2018, 20,000 to 30,000 people dressed in white will meet in a place in the capital kept secret to celebrate the 30th anniversary of this legendary rendezvous.
François Pasquier, founder and organizer of the Dinner in White, shares some confidences about the upcoming event:
"20,000 to 30,000 people will participate in this anniversary, including 5,000 to 10,000 foreign nationals. There will be thirty or so orchestras, the White Dinner is also an appointment for music lovers and musicians. For the rest, I can not reveal anything: the event is based on the mystery! "
Since the 1st Dinner attended by 200 people 30 years ago, the concept has broken the popularity records: in 2017, over 110,000 people attended a White Dinner in 28 countries. The story behind Le Dîner en Blanc is simple and extraordinary at the same time. In 1988, François Pasquier wants to gather his Parisian friends. Faced with a number of people present too high to organize a reunion at his home, the idea of meeting around a picnic in the Bois de Boulogne, with white as a sign of distinction, sprout. The appointment is such a success that participants invite new friends the following year. The concept of Dinner in White was born.
Four years later, the organizers decide to invest one of the most beautiful sites in Paris: the Pont des Arts. Knowing that the local authorities would never validate the holding of an event in a public place of this type, the meeting point is kept secret until the last minute. One of the pillars of the success of the White Dinner tradition has just emerged.

François Pasquier tells the story of Dinner in White over the past 30 years:
"The foundation of the Dinner in White has not changed: a meeting of friends. Over the years, we have accentuated the elegance, and the white dress code, to make the event more spectacular.
The dinner is in itself a show. White is the common value, the word-of-mouth concept. The dinner is open to everyone but everyone who wants to participate should make the effort to find a guest in France or abroad who will sponsor. Thus, each year, and depending on the meeting point, 8,000 to 12,000 people meet in Paris.
Our highest priority has always been the quality of our guests, based on the friendship and trust we have in them, not on their quantity. Gastronomy is a unifying element materializing the notion of sharing, true DNA of the Dinner in White. "
Over time, Le Dîner en Blanc has grown in popularity. Dinners were held in the most emblematic places of the capital: from the Palais Royal gardens to Place Vendôme, including, among others, the Champs-Élysées or the forecourt of the Hôtel de Ville in 2017. In 2013 On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Dîner en Blanc, nearly 15,000 people gathered simultaneously at the Louvre, in the Trocadéro Gardens and opposite the Eiffel Tower. At the age of 30, the White Dinner tradition continues not only to live in the heart of the City of Light, but has also become a social and gastronomic event with an international dimension.
Since 2009 and the first International White Dinner in Montreal, where Aymeric's son, François Pasquier, had just moved, the concept has been exported to nearly 80 cities around the world. In 2011, Aymeric Pasquier, with the complicity of Sandy Safi, launches the 1st Dinner in White in the USA.
On August 25, 1,200 happy few, among the 30,000 people on the waiting list, are invited to meet in a secret place until the last minute.
Following the success of New York and Canadian dinners, Aymeric Pasquier and Sandy Safi created in 2012 Le Dîner en Blanc International. Based in Montreal, Canada, Le Dîner en Blanc International develops and assists passionate organizers from around the world to replicate Parisian tradition in more than 80 cities. The common denominators for all these guests: an attachment to the French way of life, gastronomy, the desire to extend their friendly circle, and celebrate the unique character of their city.
