London’s Metropolitan Museum will host from 15 November to 22 April the exhibition called The Game of Kings: Medieval Ivory Chessmen from the Isle of Lewis. The exhibition will follow the original mark taking the form of a famous chess match in the center of Romanesque Hall, exhibiting in The Cloister more than thirty chessmen from the collection.
When will take place the exhibition?
The exhibition comes celebrates the discovery in 1831 of more than 70 luxury chess pieces dating from the 12th century. The discovery was made on the Isle of Lewis off the west coast of Scotland. From here it is the name of Lewis Chessmen. The chess pieces are the most famous chess pieces in the world.

The origins of Lewis Chessmen are believed to be in Norway as archaeological evidence shows it. Each piece is a wonderful miniature sculpture with different styles varying from kings to knights, warders as a hierarchic line.
