The detox cure by definition is a short or longer period during which the liver is stimulated to eliminate toxins and waste accumulated in the body.
What are the signals sent by our body in need of detox? The skin is dull, digestion is slow down, we retain water or we feel tired and lacking in energy, sleep is disturbed... it is, then, time to consider a small detox cure in order to stimulate the elimination functions of our body.
We often think of a detox cure after parties and hearty meals. In fact, even stress or pollution and a poor daily diet can cause toxins that our body has difficulties of getting rid of it.
When to do a detox cure?
When you just feel the need. Listening to your body is the key to overall well-being.
Nevertheless, as a general rule, it is recommended to do a detox cure at each change of season, in order to help our body eliminate residues, i.e. 4 times a year. It is ideal to do 2 to 7 consecutive days of detox (15 maximum) to really feel the benefits of the cure.
The basic principles of a detox cure beneficial to health?
In order to be serene and in full consciousness to do your detox cure, it is imperative to choose the right moment to start and stick to your cure. You need to be calm, without time or other constraints. You don't start your cure in the middle of an exam session, for example.
Here are some basic principles for a good detox:
- drink a glass of water first when you wake up, followed by lemon juice every morning
- hydrate enough: drink water, herbal teas, green tea and fresh homemade juices
- do at least one day of fasting before starting your treatment
- reduce and/or eliminate foods high in fat, refined sugars, red meat and highly industrialized products
- eliminate alcohol, tobacco, drugs (reduce daily medications as much as possible)
For a personalized follow-up and especially for people whose health is delicate, it is highly recommended to carry out your detox cure according to the instructions of your treating doctor or naturopath.
Tips to help the body eliminate toxins naturally:
- Play sports. When you play sports the body sweats and this eliminates toxins through the skin and especially stimulates the bad fats of the adipose tissues.
- Eat healthy and organic. Eating correctly, balanced and organic if possible reduces the load of toxins and waste that can be swallowed. It indirectly helps the liver, as it will have less "work" to do to eliminate them.
- Drink enough. In general, it is recommended to drink 1.5 liters of water per day for an adult. Drinking water (I specify 1.5l of water) helps the body eliminate waste through the digestive tract.
For further !
To help the liver do its job well, it is good to consume fruits and vegetables rich in antioxidants such as: birch juice, lemon, cabbage, green tea, turmeric, pineapple, apple, garlic, grapefruit, cider vinegar.
And the most important: have fun, laugh, live!
