A prominent figure in the hard rock movement like Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, Deep Purple has marked several generations. Deep Purple is a legend of rock, because of its longevity and the preponderant place it occupies in the guestbook of rock. Famous for the title Smoke on the water, it receives an undeniable success and is often cited as THE reference of the genre. The band formed in 1968 around Ritchie Blackmore, Rod Evans, Nick Simper, Jon Lord and Ian Paice. In one year, the Deep Purple recorded no less than three albums: "Shades of Deep Purple", "The Book of Taliesyn" and the eponymous "Deep Purple".
In 1972, Deep Purple signed the debut of hard rock with their cunning Smoke on the Water and Highway Star. With more than 120 million records sold worldwide, they return with the opus "Rapture of the Deep" to set fire to their fans. Deep Purple has known to go through the generations, and their album "InFinite", whose Exit is scheduled for April 7, 2017, will be a nice conclusion of this crossing.
Another band has forever marked the history of rock: Pretenders. But how to explain this return to the less unexpected? Yet it's simple, Chrissie Hynde was working on a solo project with Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys, in her studio in Nashville. She recorded the logical sequel to "Stockholm", her magnificent album appeared in 2014. At the time, the disc was to be called "Chrissie Hynde Practices Her Autograph". But as the pieces of the puzzle fit, she had to go to the obvious ... The Pretenders were back! We do not speak here of an opportunistic reformation, but rather of a happy coincidence. Yet 36 years later, the new album "Alone" resembles a more mature, more tepid older brother of the first intoxicating record of the Pretenders.
Known for being one of the best guitarists in Ireland and the United Kingdom, Johnny Gallagher is above all a performer where he can express all his explosive talent. His concerts are a clever mixture of original compositions and personal versions of the songs Pink Floyd, The Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Peter Green and Jimmie Rodgers.
We find his inimitable and expressive voice on the stage of the Salle des Etoiles, in the first part of Deep Purple and Pretenders, on the occasion of the release of his new album "THE PUMPHOUSE Suite" on March 30, 2017.
