Undoubtedly because ittakes place in January, Midem is traditionally great in terms of balance sheets and of perspectives. 

In 2012, it is incontestable that for music the economical context was difficult. 

The turnover of recorded music knew an 11th consecutive year of fall although the turnover linked to digital sales advances in a more and more significant way. 2012 was also one year in half a shade for the live shows with difficulties with quality-labels and places, notably SMAC, developing new talents.

2012 and the beginning of 2013 were outlined by difficulties for different actors, among whom some emblematic figures. Facing these urgent situations, I have acted immediately. Facing the compulsory liquidation of Discograph, by decree, an exceptionnal help was released to support the whole discs record company contributing to original creation and to diversity of the repertoires. 215 000 € were paid to about fifteen firms, essentiellementdes TPE, allowing them so to get over a difficult hurdle which would have been fatal to some of them enter and to follow their activity with, in the key, several dozens jobs.  

I also wished, facing difficulties and facing emergency to enplace a mechanism of financing adapted before the end of  2012, for a 260 000-€ budget. This intervention, operated via the Fund for musical creation (FCM), allowed supporting actors such as Starzik, Beezik, CD1D, Wiseband, Believe. 

The Struggle against piracy is deepening fighting commercial counterfeiting because it has to be identified the true beneficiaries of counterfeiting, in other words the websites that take a commercial advantage from the infringements of personal rights depropriété intellectual.
