Leading French cruise line and n°1 for Five-Star Expeditions cruises in the Antarctic, COMPAGNIE DU PONANT has a new 52-page brochure dedicated to its Antarctic -Winter Season 2013/2014.

Revealing all the promise of the destination, this fabulous travel log highlights the company's expertise in this part of the world, where it has been offering a wide choice of exceptional cruises since 1999.

Aboard LE BORÉAL and L'AUSTRAL (132 staterooms and suites), passengers can gain access to outstanding sites thanks to the small size and technical sophistication of its latest generation yachts, designed specifically for polar cruises. Five-star comfort in the company of renowned specialists in the White Continent is behind this Five-Star Expedition concept.

From November 2013 to February 2014, COMPAGNIE DU PONANT is offering three unusual itineraries that include some exceptional ports of call (14 sailings). Home to a rich and preserved flora and fauna these protected sites, like Paulet Island on the Antarctic Peninsula or Barrientos Island and Hannah Point in the Shetlands, are only accessible to small capacity ships, limited in this area to 200 passengers.

On LE BORÉAL and L'AUSTRAL, there are always something to discover, be it cultural, historic or geological, where each speaker and guide shares his passion for the Poles. On such intimate ships the discussions often spill over into dinner. At sea, every Zodiac® outing offers a different spectacle; penguin colonies, Weddell seals, sea elephants, albatrosses or humpback whales. Ashore, the naturalist-guides organise exclusive hikes, along the sides of the submerged caldera, as far as the whaling station at Whaler's Bay on Deception Island, or in thefootsteps of Ernest Shackleton to relive those final miles he crossed in 1916 in South Georgia before reaching the former whaling station of Stromness; a happy outcome for the Endurance expedition.
