Designer Ennio Capasa:
"In May this year we welcomed TOILETPAPER as guest curator of our website. This led to a beautiful collaboration entitled ROCKNROLL vs POPNROLL."
In this collection I meant to continue this collaboration by using two highly iconic images of TOILETPAPER printed on panels and then applied to garments, handbags and sunglasses, thus furthering the technique which was the hallmark of my fall/winter show.
The two images I have chosen are a bird and an aloe plant damaged by a hand that cuts them with sharp scissors.
A punk-style act of rebellion? A fashionable decoration game? A warning from animal rights and environmental activists? In all pieces you find the CoSTUME NATIONAL "dna": the asymmetries, the tailoring, the overlays, all minimal and rockandroll. "ARTNROLLROCKNROLL black and white vs POPNROLL geranium and vermilion. Asymmetric, deconstructed, one shoulder, one lapel, one leg out, graphic, minimal and sensual. The jacket half blouse, the half skirt trousers, the dress half shorts. Short dresses, short skirts, straight and cropped leg pants. Double fabrics, silk and wool, silk and cotton, silk and viscose, crepe fabrics in very flat and glossy textures, transparencies. Bare legs, nude shoes, high heels, small wedge. Matador couture hats. Bags, multi-layer satchels and oversized clutches with inlaid fabric ARTNROLL.
